“Our era is not one with a faith problem, but rather a reasoning one”.
Since signing on the air on February 24, 2015, Aquinas Communications has provided listeners with soul-enriching music and uplifting talk shows.
Our spiritual radio network and trademarked symbols weren’t named randomly. We chose our logo design and the name of our newsletter, “A Word From the Bellowing Ox”, based on the life of St. Thomas Aquinas. When Thomas was in school, his classmates would tease him and call him the “dumb ox” since he was big, awkward and quiet. However, his teacher, Saint Albert the Great, silenced them by saying: “One day that ‘dumb ox’ will bellow so loud the whole world will hear him.” Saint Albert didn’t know how accurate his statement was.
Popes throughout the centuries have given the reasoning of Thomas Aquinas high regard. His ideology also holds a special, elevated position in Catholic theology. Some scholars have said that he wrote in such a principled manner that he defeated all error that could possibly occur. This is why Aquinas Communications chose him as our patron saint.
Other scholars have said that Aquinas was able to communicate with angels, who are the patrons of radio communication. He thought of himself as the “angelic doctor,” as well. We would have erred gravely by not naming our Christian radio station after him.
